Earlier in 2016, I wrote a blog for Frances Corner on masculinities. I explored how LCF is working hard at celebrating the breadth of research and practice on masculinities taking place at the College. The plural ‘masculinities’ is important: how do we define this, when there are increasingly so many different perspectives, including identities, gender, sexualities, ethnicities, the fashion media and the dressed appearance.
This is a timely and important focus of research for LCF and CfFC. Shaun, Dr Jeff Horsley and myself (all CfFC members) are exploring masculinities from different perspectives, including how you present masculine attire within exhibiting contexts. And many other diverse practitioners and researchers across LCF and UAL are building on previous work and developing really interesting ideas that are addressing these constantly evolving and complex issues.
If you are interested in being a part of this group and attending hub meetings, please contact me, firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also looking for speakers and event themes for future meetings. We hope that you will engage with us on this important subject.
